2013 Ford Focus ST gets the SEMA treatment

Ford was looking to make a splash at the 2012 SEMA show with five heavily customized 2013 Focus ST hatchbacks. All are powered by Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Noted aftermarket tuning companies, including Steeda, Cosworth and Galpin, have worked to give each car a distinct look.

Tanner Foust Racing added an adjustable suspension, Monotune air intake system and Magnaflow exhaust for more horsepower to its Focus ST. The car also gets a lowered, aggressive body kit by Street Scene Equipment and plenty of carbon fiber accents inside.

An orange and black Focus ST was styled by Bojix Design of Duarte, Calif. Bojix installed AP Racing brakes and an Eibach R1 coilover suspension. The obligatory body kit is there, as are black wheels from Rennen Monolite with orange accents. Throw a toothy smile in the grille and it could be a Halloween jack-o’-lantern.

Cosworth, which also put some muscle behind the Hyundai Velocity concept for this year’s SEMA show, did its thing on the Focus ST with help from M&J Enterprises and Ford Racing. Power goes up to a claimed 330 hp—compared with the stock Focus ST’s 252 hp—while the suspension components are replaced with Ford Racing parts. Graphics and stripes cover the orange-yellow paint job, and the whole package rides on Cosworth RS2000 wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Galpin Auto Sport bucked the wild color trend for a more staid gray and blue package. Lime green wheels sit at the corners of the rally car-inspired Focus ST, while a large roof scoop sucks in air from the top. Bigger brakes were installed, along with a coilover suspension and a methanol injection system. Galpin didn’t release any power numbers.

Steeda took a break from tuning Mustangs to take a crack at the Focus ST. It comes with Steeda’s G-Trac suspension braces, 19-inch wheels with performance tires and Brembo brakes.
